The Bhutan Pavilion was the main attraction at the 2010 -11 Taipei International Flora Expo and swept off the excellence award from among more than 30 other participating countries.

Prime Minister Jigme Thinley received the award on Bhutan’s behalf from Grace Huang, the President of Sunya International Special Cultural Interchange Association on May 16.

The Bhutan pavilion “stood out” among others according to Grace Huang. He said it was a unique experience for the people at the expo because the Bhutanese Pavilion was more than a flora exhibition.

The Bhutan pavilion worth USD 300,000 was assembled by the Taiwanese counterparts after the architectural works were done in Bhutan. The six-month long 2010-11 International Flora Expo which concluded in April 25 was hosted by Taipei.

The expo was a platform for visitors to understand Bhutan better
