Low volume, high value tourism

It’s a myth that the tourist influx in Bhutan is restricted. The fact is that the government wants low volume, high value tourism in line with the country’s philosophy of Gross National Happiness so that its eco-system, culture and traditions are preserved. That’s why the tourist tariff is USD 250, which makes it one of the most expensive tourist destinations in the world. But this cost is inclusive of everything including accommodation, food and transport, and a tourist guide to reveal the country’s amazing secrets. Plus it’s not necessary that you travel in large groups and you can customise your own itinerary.
